Roundhiegans are proud to be one of the first to announce an mind-blowing new campaign to raise awareness and funds for the Leeds Cares charity.
One of our parents, Mike Bates (Dad to U9 player Gabriel), is aiming to raise over £50,000 for the PICU at Leeds General Infirmary. In 2011 this unit saved Gabriel’s life when he was born early and suffered several complications including meningitis.
Mike is planning to row across the Atlantic Ocean solo in December 2022 in a bid to raise awareness and funds for this amazing, personal cause. Dubbed The Worlds Toughest Row, Mike will battle storms, dehydration, salt sores, 30ft waves and around 60 days at sea….alone! This is a huge challenge and it’s not surprising that more people have climbed Mt Everest or been to the moon that have rowed the Atlantic solo.
To find out more about The Atlantic Grappler campaign visit www.theatlanticgrappler.com or follow Mike’s journey on Instagram @theatlanticgrappler. If you are able to donate and support this cause and our fantastic NHS please find the links via the website of donate directly at GoFundMe.com/the-atlantic-grappler. Please also share this announcement if you can.
We’ll release more info throughout the campaign. We might also have some really exciting fundraising planned involving our fantastic Roundheigans kids and The Atlantic Grappler between now and the start of the row.
Thanks for your support.
Help Mike to Help Others.
