Roundhegians 2s match report - 21 March 2026 @ Otliensians

Hegians travelled to Otliensians in pursuit of keeping up their recent winning run. A few changes in personnel and without the onfield services of injured regular captain Deuchars but some confidence of putting another victorious performance together.
Hegians again made a good start to a match with high energy from the kick off and some good early phases leading to the opening score of the match from skipper for the day Doug ‘the Diplomat’ Wilson finishing a try after beating a couple of defenders with a strong run on the right hand flank.
The home side came right back and after some sustained attacks and ill discipline from Hegians put their first score on the board. The rest of the first half was then a competitive affair with good play from both sides but the home side just edging proceedings and scoring two more tries to go in at the break at 17-5 ahead.
The opening stanzas of the second half then quickly determined the result of the match as the home side came out full of beans and capitalised on mistakes from Hegians to scored three quick unanswered tries. At this stage it looked like a cricket score could be on the cards and Hegians had to regroup.
They did respond with the pack leading a strong rearguard action with Hembapu and Midgley (MOTM) in particular at the forefront, both carrying and tackling with endless gusto. This eventually led to Hegians getting some more points on the board with the aforementioned back rowers getting deserved points rewards and the busy Lakhornwong at scrum half also touching down to push the Hegians points tally for the day to 26.
With the home side scoring again the 41-26 final score was probably reflective of the overall balance of the match but some excellent periods of play from Hegians contributed to a good match and provided optimism for the upcoming fixtures.

Hegians points scorers:
Tries - Wilson, Lakhornwong, Midgley, Hembapu
Conversions - Lakhornwong (2), Morgan
