On 11th May we launched an ambitious – yet essential - crowdfunding project at Roundhegians - Raising the Roof!
Our sports hall – the Howarth Sports Hall – was built in 1980 and has served the club well for more than 40 years now, providing a home to our Badminton section and a range of other community groups that use our facilities throughout the year.
The sports hall roof is nearing the end of its life, and we have been planning for the last few years to replace it – and importantly, to dispose of its asbestos components (which are stable and safe at present!).
We are in the process of getting final quotations for replacing the roof, but initial estimates put the cost at around £100,000! We have already secured a considerable sum to put towards the project, and we now need help to raise the remaining funds to cover the project, through a combination of this crowdfunding campaign, and grants or matched funding.
How can you help?
You can support our crowdfunding campaign in a number or ways:
- Direct Donation– you can donate funds directly via the JustGiving page, including GiftAid if applicable – we are able to claim GiftAid due to our Community Amateur Sports Club (CASC) status - please use the link below to donate!
- Create a Fundraising Event– you (or anyone you know) can create your own fundraising events that link directly to our crowdfunding campaign on JustGiving. To do this, just click the ‘Start Fundraising’ link on our JustGiving page (https://www.justgiving.com/campaign/Roundhegians2022)
- Promote our Campaign– please promote our campaign to friends, family, employers, local businesses, celebrities – anyone you can think of who may be able to help us raise these vital funds.
How much do we need to raise?
We have set the crowdfunding target at £40,000.
We know this is a significant sum, but it’s less than half of the cost of replacing the roof.
We’re really hopeful we can achieve this amount with your help, or even exceed it! If your generosity does raise more than we find we need for the roof we will use the extra money for other vital improvements to our facilities.
What to do now?
Please, please, please help us achieve our crowdfunding target, in any way you can.
